Italy's Lisa Demetz resigns from active sports.

In an interview with the Italian winter sports website neveitalia.it Demetz states, that differences between her and the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) were the reason for this step.

25-year old Demetz was – together with Elena Runggaldier – one of the pioneers of Ladies Ski Jumping in Italy. Her biggest success was winning gold at the Junior World Ski Championships 2007, in January 2012 she came third in a World Cup competition in Hinterzarten. After tearing her ACL in November 2012 in Lillehammer, she never managed to jump as well as before.

Of course it is impossible for someone who is on the sidelines to reconstruct what happened between FISI and Demetz, but the interview on neveitalia.it draws the following picture: To regain form Demetz did private trainings during the last winter with Romed Moroder, who already coached her as a junior. By FISI this was seen as an offense against head coach Julien Eybert-Guillon and as a try to split the team. On the contrary Demetz claims, that these trainings were approved by sports director Ivo Pertile and felt herself excluded from the team.

Demetz made the decision to resign from active sports as a consequence of this argument already some time ago, but until the interview on neveitalia.it this was not not communicated to public. By now there is no official release by FISI on the matter.

Demetz now plans to finish her studies at the Universitiy of Parma. Ladies-Skijumping.com wishes her good luck for the future.
