Two FIS Cup victories for Sofya Tikhonova

Sofya Tikhonova won both FIS Cup competitions this weekend in Rasnov. Ursa Bogataj takes the overall Cup.

The only two FIS Cup competitions of this winter were held this weekend in Rasnov, Romania. Venue for this competitions was the K64/HS71 hill, so also junior athletes were able to compete there. A handful of jumpers from Kazakhstan and Hungary made use of this opportunity and gave their international debut there, so two new nations joined

Russia's Sofya Tikhonova won the first competition with jumps of 63.5 and 64.5 meters. Second behind her came Katharina Keil from Austria. She jumped 61.0 and 62.5 meters. Third came Anastasiya Gladysheva from Russia with a pair of jumps of 58.0 and 62.0 meters. Romania's Dana Haralambie jumped 63.5 meters twice. She was in the lead after the first round, but as she fell in the second round, she finished eventually fourth. With Carina Militaru another Romanian finished fifth (57.5 and 58.5 m). Russia's Daria Grushina took the sixth place (57.0 and 58.5 m).

Tikhonova won also the second competition. This time she jumped 61.0 and 62.5 meters and so was ahead of Haralambie, who jumped 62.0 and 60.5 meters. Third this came Keil with jumps of 59.5 and 57.0 meters. Places four to six were all taken by jumpers from Russia this day. Grushina came fourth with jumps of 57.0 and 58.5 meters, Gladysheva jumped 54.4 and 57.0 meters and so came fifth. Sixth place was taken by Natalia Solovyeva with jumps of 55.0 and 51.5 meters.

The overall standings of the FIS Cup is made up of these competitions in Rasnov and of six more competitions that were held during the summer. Slovenia's Ursa Bogataj, who did not compete in Rasnov, whon the overall Cup with 250 points. Swcond behind her is Tikhonova with 230 points. The third place in this ranking is shared by Czech Republic's Michaela Dolezelova and Slovenia's Ema Klinec. Both won two competitions in the summer and so scored 200 points.
