Schonach is a nice, little town with 4000 residents, right in the middle of the Black Forrest. It is famous for winter sports and is the hometown of many well known Nordic Combined Skiers and Ski jumpers, such as Urban Hettich, Hans-Peter Pohl, Christian Dold, Georg Hettich, Hansjörg Jäkle and Alexander Herr.

Tourism is the most important economic factor. The worlds largest cuckoo clock attrackts visitors from all over the world. Nevertheless the neighbouring town Schönwald is known to be the place, where the first cuckoo clock was invented.

About the hill:

The Langenwaldschanze hill was already buildt in 1924. Since 1967 it is venue of the famous Nordic Combined Schwarzwaldpokal (Cup of the Black Forest) and hosts World Cups regularily. In 1983 and 2002 the Junior World Championships were held here.

A ladies competition was held here for the first time in 2007. This competition was initially planned to be held on the K85 in Schönwald, wich is less then 10 km away. But as there was not enough snow, the ski clubs of the two towns worked together to prepare at least one of the hills. So the competition was relocated.

Two years later the hill in Schönwald was abandoned for good. Since the Schönwald ski club hosts its Ladies Continental Cups in Schonach. It has become a tradition, that the winner of the competition is awarded the club's challenging cup - the oldest trophy in Ladies Skijumping.

In 2010 the old K90 hill was enlarged to K95.
