Oslo is the capital of Norway, located on the northern shore of the Oslo Fjord. About 600 000 people live in the city, even about 2 million in the agglomeration. The city is world famous as the site, where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually.

The Holmenkollen-hill, with the ski jumps "Holmenkollbakken" (K120) and "Midstubakken" (K95) and several cross-country tracks is a popular recreational area. It is located in the northwest of the city. It can be reached with the Oslo metro (T-Banen) Line 1, direction Frognersenteren.

About the hill:

From 1955 to 1982 the old Midstubakken stood on the same location as today's ski jump, only about 200 meters away from the more famous Holmenkollbakken.

The new Midstubakken was built from 2008 to 2010 as venue for the 2011 World Championships. It was opened in September 2010 with Continental Cup competitions of both, Men and Ladies. The Ladies competition of the 2011 World Championships was held on the hill under really foggy weather condititons. In 2012 the Midstubakken will host the final competition of the first Ladies World Cup season.

The hill is covered with plastic mats, and so can also be used in the summer. In the summer 2011 the construction of four smaller hills next to the K95 was started, they will be finished in 2012.
